Construction and Demolition Projects

Results of Weather Soil Erosion

Commonly referred to as “C&D” in the industry, construction and demolition projects normally produce vast amounts of debris and waste on a daily basis. Whether this construction and demolition waste is taken and reused, or ultimately discarded, it must be disposed of using the safest and most environmentally friendly methods available. As a result, a common place to store huge collections of unusable waste material is in different types of landfills, such as sanitary landfills, MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) landfills, coal ash landfills, and cement kiln dust landfills.

Construction Waste

Construction Waste

Often, unwanted construction and demolition waste creates damaging effects on the health and wellbeing of the surrounding population, which means that the waste materials produced during the renovation, construction or demolition of commercial buildings, houses, roads, bridges, and other structural projects have to be collected and stored as securely as possible. Specially designed construction and demolition waste landfill sites typically store most kinds of debris, including metal, wood, soil, rock, asphalt, concrete bricks, glass, plastics, and miscellaneous household-related detritus (broken window frames and doors, outdated kitchen and restroom plumbing fixtures, and so on).

Specializing in the design and manufacture of a number of effective environmental and civil products, Watershed Geo manufactures two applications that help with solid waste closure challenges. Within all landfill sites, the production of landfill methane gas, leachate and storm water runoff is natural and continuous. ClosureTurf and VersaCap both work effectively to remedy these issues.

VersaCap™ and ClosureTurf® Construction and Demolition Solutions

VersaCap is an engineered turf landfill cover that, unlike other traditional exposed geomembrane intermediate covers, does not have to be replaced or anchored with tires or sand bags. Its strong polyethylene (PE) geomembrane backing assists in gas collection early in the landfill cycle, reduces leachate, decreases soil erosion, mitigates storm water runoff and limits gas odor. A VersaCap installation means reduced maintenance expenses, and the product can last a decade or longer.

Closure Turf Berkly County Landfill

Closure Turf Berkly County Landfill

ClosureTurf is an engineered Subtitle D compliant system that is specifically designed to address and solve soil erosion failure and gas system failure, as well as helping to reduce gas emissions. ClosureTurf is extremely effective in managing industrial solid waste, municipal solid waste, hazardous waste and coal combustion residuals, and is suitable for final landfill closures (full closures or incremental closures).

Watershed Geo is proud to produce environmental products like ClosureTurf and VersaCap that help reduce landfill maintenance issues. Our C&D landfill solutions are internationally-patented (patent pending) and tested to guarantee the highest levels of performance and stability.
