Reporting directly to Mike Ayers, CEO of Watershed Geo, Cieply will work to cultivate strong relationships with cities, counties and private landfills who are seeking to enter the final landfill closure phase. Cieply commented, “I am excited to be on board with a company that is experiencing exponential growth around some truly innovative solutions. Watershed Geo has truly built a solid platform of successful products that have fed off of the inherent challenges that we as former LF operators battled on a day to day basis. One product in particular that I look forward to showcasing is our ClosureTurf solution. Many landfills are recognizing it to be a more sustainable and a low-cost solution not to mention an excellent alternative to the conventional cap. The significant benefits as it relates to installation, aesthetics, water quality and general maintenance, to name a few, make me eager to want to share this message with landfill owners across the country.”

Prior to Watershed, Cieply served in many key roles in top companies such as Waste Management and Republic Services. As a senior operations leader, he was able to build multiple divisions into very profitable LOB’s through his intense evaluation and thorough execution of people, processes and operational practices. Most recently, he was the Director of US Operations- Waste Processing for Tervita, LLC in 2014 and played a pivotal part in preparation and then subsequent sale of Tervita, LLC. to Republic Energy Services in early 2015 and stayed with Republic until early this year.

“David is a strategic hire for Watershed to grow our municipal solid waste footprint,” said Ayers. “He has a very unique combination of experience that consists of landfill operations, environmental compliance and geotechnical engineering. He has walked in the client’s shoes and been very successful at managing landfills across the country. His deep understanding of the solid waste industry and his proven ability to execute against business objectives to drive significant revenue will make him an asset to the Watershed team.”
