Challenge

A southern utility company needed to rehabilitate a process water treatment pond that was experiencing erosion and deteriorating infrastructure. The remediation required stabilizing the pond’s slopes, improving drainage, and protecting water quality while providing a durable, long-term solution to minimize future maintenance.  

Solution

As part of the comprehensive pond remediation, COMANCO Environmental Corporation regraded the slopes, stabilized the pond foundation, and installed approximately 30,000 square feet of HydroTurf® CS to provide erosion protection. The system was selected to provide durable erosion protection and long-term slope stability while minimizing maintenance experienced with conventional vegetated erosion-control systems. HydroTurf CS supports improved water quality by minimizing potential soil loss and sediment migration associated with conventional erosion-control approaches. 

Result

Completed in 2025, the project restored the pond slopes with a durable erosion-protection solution designed for long-term performance. The completed system provides a low-maintenance, aesthetically compatible solution for long-term protection of the rehabilitated pond supporting water quality and reliable pond operations.
